The M4 Convertible has the same engine, chassis and equipment of the M4 Coupe.
Starting from the BMW 4 Series Convertible, the M4 has an unmistakable appearance. It's larger, lower, has the "powerdome" on the bonnet that caracterizes the front view, the front and rear bumpers are designed according to the ///M Style and don't forget the external mirrors in twin-stalk style. On the rear side you find the typical four exhaust tips.
M4 Convertible has a three-part folding metal hardtop which has been improved a lot compared to the previous M3 E93 and gives you the opportunity to use the car during sunny days, like a normal roadster/convertible, and during winter days just like a coupe. Press the button and, at speeds of up to 18km/h in 20 seconds, you'll have a coupe/convertible.
Let's talk about the essence of this car.
It's been lightweighted and now it's 60 kilos lighter than M3 E93 thanks to the employment of light materials such as Aluminium and CFRP ( Carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer ).
For example, the bonnet and front side panels are made from aluminium while the drive-shaft is made in CFRP.
Under the bonnet we find a "Straight-Six" 3-liter which develops 431hp and 550Nm thanks to M TwinPower Turbo technology. It hits maximum revs of 7600 rpm and lets M4 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,6 seconds when fitted with the manual gearbox, dropping in 4,4 seconds when It's fitted with M Double Clutch Transmission. Top Speed is an electronically governed 250 km/h (155mph).
What's very important in a car like this one is a Limited-Slip Differential. BMW has created the M Active Differential. Its control unit links up with the DSC and take into account the position of the accelerator pedal, the rotational speed of the wheels and the car’s yaw rate. The degree of lock on the rear axle may be anywhere between 0 and 100 per cent.
The electromechanical steering system has three different settings according to Comfort, Sport, Sport+ modes which change also the suspension settings if you choose the Adaptive M Suspension.
Two sets of wheels feature in the optional list: the first comes as standard with forged 18-inch M-Alloy with mixed tyres (255mm on the front axle and 275mm on the rear axle), while the second is made up by forged 19-inch M-Alloy available in Black or Ferric Grey with mixed tyres (255mm on the front axle and 275mm on the rear axle).
