RacingEngineV8: Corvette Z06 Convertible

Chevrolet has showed the Brand New Corvette Z06 Convertible at New York Auto Show 2014, the first Z06 Convertible ever produced.

Chevrolet says that, through the utilization of modern technologies, Z06 Convertible doesn't need structural reinforcements and so its curb weight is nearly identical to the Z06 Coupe. It's interesting to observe that its aluminium structure is 20% stiffer than the previous Z06. Great stuff!
The Z06 Convertible can be equipped with the fantastic "Z07 Performance Package" which includes Brembo carbon-ceramic matrix brakes, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires and adjustable front- and rear-aerodynamic components.

The car looks so aggressive! The fabric top is available in 4 colours and can be opended/closed at speeds of up to 50 km/h. All aerodynamic components fitted on this car let you know how fast it wants to be on track and on road. However, Corvette has made available 3 aerodynamic packages to satisfy every kind of driver.

The heart of this car is the Supercharged LT4 6.2 V8 with 625hp and 861Nm of torque that features the "Direct injection" and the "Active Fuel Management", a system which deactivates half cylinders when we don't need full power.

There are available two types of transmission: a 7-speed manual gearbox with Active Rev Match (rev matching technology for upshifts and downshifts), and a 8-speed automatic gearbox, designed to be as fast as DCT transmissions.

Corvette Z06 is fitted with Magnetic Selective Ride Control dampers, adjustable for every kind of drive via the standard Driver Mode Selector through which we can modify parameters of engine, dampers, gearbox (AT only) and differential. The car is fitted with the eLSD, the smart electronic limited-slip differential that can continuously change the rate at which the limited slip engages.
It's fitted with 19-inch wheels on the front axle with 285/30ZR19 tyres and with 20-inch wheels on the rear axle with 335/25ZR20 tyres, and with Brembo carbon-ceramic matrix brakes if you choose the Z07 Performance Package, adopting 394 x 36 mm brake rotors on the front and 388 x 33 mm brake rotors on the rear axle.
